Resume fraud is on the rise amongst job seekers. Even with the growth and evolving of background screening across the globe, candidates still try to pull a fast one on employers, with around 80% of employers indicating they have uncovered some kind of discrepancy between the truth and the fiction written up in the resumes submitted by candidates. The need for an intensive and thorough verification process is even more important as more and more applicants try to slip through the cracks.

Education verifications will include all information made available by the source. Sources may include third party verification services such as the National Student Clearinghouse, which may have limited information available. If an educational institution works with a third party verification service, we are required to obtain our verification through that source and not through the school directly. Consultation with qualified legal counsel is recommended for all employment law matters.

Q: What if I haven’t graduated yet, would you still be able to verify my academic experience?
A: Yes, Info Cubic can verify dates of enrollment.
Q: Can you verify education with my current name if I have changed my name since graduation?
A: Schools maintain records by the name you used when you were enrolled, and so that is the information that will be critical to verifying your education.
Q: Can you verify education over the summer or when schools are out of session?
A: Even if a school is out of session, we may still able to still reach someone in the registrar’s office, or attendance office. If all school offices are closed, our client will have the option to reopen the verification once offices open once again.
Q: I have a GED. What should I put for my school information?
A: When verifying a GED the most important information is the state that issued the GED. "State of XX GED" should be entered in the school name field.
Q: My school has closed, can you still verify my education?
A: In most situations, we are able to verify education even if the school has closed. If the school is accredited (this applies to both colleges and high schools) - records are transferred to a records repository, either at the district level or to the state’s post secondary education department or another school (some high schools).
Q: I was homeschooled. Can this be verified?
A: If a homeschool agency was used to provide the materials and testing required to receive the homeschool diploma, this can often be verified. Outside of this scenario, verifying homeschooling can be challenging.
Q: What does NSC stand for, and why is there a fee?
A: NSC stands for the National Student Clearinghouse. This is a 3rd party verification service that schools choose to work with to store and verify graduation and enrollment information. Many schools have turned to this system for record holding as opposed to requiring verifications to go through their attendance or registrar’s office. There is a pass-through fee required for this service which will be passed through on the invoice from Info Cubic. If a school contracts with the National Student Clearinghouse, this will be the only available method for verification.

As a default setting on Education Verifications, the Cube will require the name that the applicant graduated under be provided. This is very helpful to our Verifications Team and eliminates the need to go back to a client or applicant and request a name graduated under.
In addition, The Cube offers configuration rules that can be set to ensure the education history that a client wants verified is completed and not more or less. For example, an applicant can be prompted to indicate whether a degree they are providing is their highest degree attained. The account can be configured to order that search but not another where they indicated a degree was not their highest attained.
All fields on the Education Verification screen can be made required or not required, re-ordered, re-labeled, or removed entirely. By default we will ask for and require the pieces of information commonly required to complete the search, but we are open to discussing customizations with clients to meet their needs.
Custom client instructions can be added to Education Verifications at the account or even package level. This allows customers the flexibility to provide specific direction to applicants as it relates to their requirements. All requested instructions will go through an internal approval process at Info Cubic before being added to a client account.
