Equifax Data Breach and Possible Impact

Posted: September 12, 2017

If you haven’t already heard about the massive data breach impacting 143 million Americans – you can catch up on it via The New York Times here.

We would like to reassure our clients that the Equifax data breach won’t likely have a detrimental impact on our ability to provide employment related credit checks to our clients outside of a possible uptick in the amount of individuals requesting a freeze on their reports. It remains to be seen whether unusually high volume of inbound calls and inquiries to Equifax related to this incident will impact their service delivery but we will keep you posted on any developments.

Pamela Dixon, Executive Director of the World Privacy Forum was quoted in the NY Time Article – “This is about as bad as it gets, if you have a credit report, chances are better than 50% that you will be in this breach”

Equifax has created a website to help consumers determine is their personal information is potentially impacted as well as a complimentary year of credit file monitoring and identity theft protection via TrustedID Premier.
