“Ban the Box” Movement Continues
Posted: June 27, 2014

Baltimore has become the latest city to “Ban the Box.” Baltimore’s Fair Criminal-Record Screening Practices Ordinance states that an employer cannot inquire about a candidate’s criminal history until after a conditional offer of employment is made. Simply, any and all criminal history questions must be removed from the employment application.
This is a growing trend among many state and local jurisdictions, and there is no doubt many others will follow suit. We recommend that you review any policies and procedures in regards to employment practices with your legal counsel. For general questions or information, feel free to contact us.
